Minnesota Father Arrested After 16-Year-Old Son’s Remains Found in Landfill Weeks After Disappearance
A Minnesota man was arrested on July 7, nearly two months after his 16-year-old son, Jordan Dupree “Manny” Collins Jr., disappeared. The teenager was last seen on May 8 in a Columbia Heights neighborhood, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. No phone or social media activity was recorded from Manny after that date.
Authorities announced on July 1 that remains found over the previous weekend at a landfill in nearby Elk River were identified as Manny’s. The father, Jordan Dupree Collins Sr., was taken into custody in connection with his son’s death, though specific charges have yet to be announced.
Manny’s disappearance prompted a large-scale search effort, including nearly four weeks spent searching the landfill, according to law enforcement. Authorities believe the teen was killed around Mother’s Day, which coincides with the timeline his great-grandmother, Mary Berry, shared. She revealed that shortly before Manny vanished, Collins Sr. told her his son was on his way to her home — but Manny never arrived. After she reached out to the father to inquire, he stopped answering her calls.
Manny’s aunt, Nautica Polo, posted on Facebook remembering her nephew as a “good kid” who admired his father. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe was created soon after Manny disappeared to support his mother, who struggled to balance work and the search for her son.
Collins Sr. is expected to appear in court on July 9. Authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Manny’s death.
