Tragic Pit Bull Attack Claims Life of 1-Year-Old Ohio Girl Despite Mother's Efforts
A heartbreaking incident in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, resulted in the death of a 1-year-old girl after being attacked by the family’s pit bull. According to authorities, the attack occurred on July 2.
Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell reported that the child’s mother called 911, informing dispatchers that her daughter had been fatally injured by their family dog. The baby, later identified as Blakely Blosser, was found with severe bite wounds to her face and throat.
The mother, who sustained defensive wounds while trying to protect her daughter, told police that the attack happened as she was walking in the door with Blakely.
“It was about as terrible of a ordeal as we’ve come across in a long time,” Sheriff Campbell said.
The family dog was euthanized by the child’s father, who was not present at the time of the attack.
Blakely’s obituary described her as a joyful and spirited child who brought light and love to her family and everyone around her. She enjoyed pushing her wagon, tractor rides, playing peek-a-boo, and interacting with the family cat, Panther. Known for her playful and fearless nature, Blakely was also famous for trying to sneak sweets from her brother Logan’s secret stash.
A GoFundMe campaign set up to support Blakely’s family has raised over $13,000.
The community continues to mourn the loss of this bright young life and offers support to her grieving family.
